George Daniel James Kingshott
George Daniel James Kingshott was a Gunner in the Imperial Camel Corps Battalion of the Royal Horse Artillery. His service number was 38995.
George was the son of James Kingshott and his wife Jessie Clarinda nee Fife. They lived in Croydon, Surrey. He was their third child, and one of a total of seven. He was not married. Sadly, his brother, William Ernest Kingshott, was also killed during the Great War. He was also a brother to Horace Henry Kingshott who rose to become Chief of Police in Rhodesia.
George was killed in action on 10th October 1915 whilst engaged in fighting around the River Lys. He has no known grave but is commemorated on the Loos Memorial.
George was one of my more distant relatives, being my 9th cousin once removed.

George was posthumously awarded the 1914-15 Star, the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.
